Terms of Use Approval

Within the scope of the Security Essentials Identity Security sprint or an Organizational equivalent, the creation of a Terms of use document will be supplied within the Azure AD environment. The publication of this Terms of use document also marks the creation of a policy that will require all users to expand and acknowledge the new document. This guide will instruct individuals accessing the system for the first time after the policies creation, new or existing users, on how to acknowledge this document to regain access to Microsoft resources.

This guide will accomplish the following:

  • Accepting the Terms of Use Policy

Accepting the Terms of Use Policy

It is highly recommended to accept the Terms of Use policy from a Windows, macOS, or Linux machine rather than on a mobile device. Failure to abide could result in the ability to accept the Terms of Use not being available and could lead to productivity impact due to restricted access to Microsoft resources until proper acknowledgement has been given.

  1. Begin by accessing any Microsoft tied resource that is connected to your organization.
  2. Once you have provided the proper credentials (Username and Password) associated with the account, you will receive a prompt that will specify that more information is required. Select Next to proceed to the acknowledgement of the new Terms of Use document.
  3. A new page will appear that will detail that you must acknowledge the Terms of Use document that has been configured and enforced through policy. Select the Terms of Use dropdown to expand the policy, you will not be able to proceed until the document has been expanded since this action signals that you have read the terms. Select Accept once you have read through the liability that you as a user will be under if any misconduct of resources tied to this Microsoft Tenant were to take place.
  4. Once you have read and acknowledge the Terms of Use, you should be able to reach the original resources you were attempting to access.
