      Browser Extension Addition

      This guide will show an administrator how to add desired browser extensions that will be preinstalled to Corporate Intune joined devices through Microsoft Edge or Chrome.

       Before we proceed with adding any extensions be sure to not make any alterations to any existing extensions.

      Any alterations to the Security Essentials configured extension IDs or Update URLs could prevent the deployment of all the extensions for the configuration profile.       

      Browser Extension Addition

      1. Navigate to the Configuration Profiles - Intune portal, locate and select the Security Essentials Browser Security configuration profile or an equivalent Browser Security configuration profile.
      2. Scroll down to Configuration Settings and select Edit.
      3. When adding a desired extension to either one of the desired browsers, begin by selecting the dropdown beside either the Google or Microsoft Edge blade. Under the Google or Microsoft Edge blade we will need to find the Extensions section followed by locating the configuration setting Extension/App IDs and Update URLs to be Silently Installed (Device). Selecting the text field from the list below the setting will allow you to initiate an extension addition.
      4. Depending on the selected browser the structure of the addition will be different:
        1. Any additions made to Google will need to possess the following format:

          Extension or App ID Viewable in Extensions section of Chrome Browser;Update URL tied to the Manifest JSON file provided in the Extension App Data.

        2. Any additions made to Microsoft Edge will need to possess the following format:

          Extension or App ID Viewable in Extensions section of Edge Browser;Update URL tied to the Manifest JSON file provided in the Extension App Data.

      5. Once the necessary extension addition has been made, select Review + Save to proceed to the review section.
      6. From the Review section, you will be able to select the Settings dropdown to verify that the necessary browser extension additions are properly generating. Select Save to finalize the extension additions. Rule changes propagate in less than 24 hours.
