Defender for Email Security Awareness Training Assignment Action

This guide will show an administrator how to construct a Simulation Campaign for a desired set up users based on their job roles.

Security Awareness Training Campaign Creation

  1. Navigate to the Attack Simulation Training – Microsoft Defender portal, locate and select the Create New action.
  2. You will supply basic identification information such as the Name and Description for the simulation. Select Next to proceed.
  3. You will be able to configure Group Assignments for the training, for this article, we will want to Include only specific users and groups. Locate and select the Add users action. A flyout will be generated where you will be able to select groups that will be in scope to receive the training. The selected users or groups should generate in the list below once they have been properly added. Select Next to proceed.
  4. When the Add users action is selected in the previous step, a flyout will be generated where you will be able to supply the name of the desired Users or Groups in the provided search bar, make sure to select the User or Group from the list. If done correctly they will be generated in the Selected Items section, finalize the addition by clicking the Add button.
  5. You will be able to configure Exclusion for the training, if applicable. Select Next to continue.
  6. Select training module(s) to send to end users by selecting the Add trainings button, this will generate a flyout that will list all the preconfigured Microsoft Training Modules. The selected modules should generate in the list below once they have been properly added. Select Next when complete.
  7. When the Add trainings action is selected in the previous step, a flyout will be generated where you will be able to select the desired Microsoft Training Modules. You can either traverse the list to find desired modules or you can utilize the search bar to filter based on keywords. Once you have selected the checkboxes next to the desired modules, select Add to finalize the module selection.
  8. Specify the frequency of notifications you want sent to end users regarding campaign training. Select Next when complete.
  9. Determine a time frame for which you want to launch the training campaign, either immediately or scheduled. Select Next to proceed to revisions.
  10. The review page will allow you to see all configured settings for the training, if you detect a discrepancy at this stage make note of the section and select Back to go to the previous sections to make the necessary alterations before finalization. If everything checks out, select Submit to publish the training.
  11. Upon successful creation the training campaign will be generated in the list.
