This work instruction will allow an administrator to rectify an unintentional URL blacklisting due to policy.
This article is intended for employees of organizations that use Sittadel's security. Additionally, there are some actions that can only be accomplished by those with administrative privileges.
Procedure Scope: Administrators
Required Group Membership: Admin.WebFilter
Note: This section may be used as a response to the Request a URL Whitelist Work Instruction.
- Navigate to URLs/Domains – O365 Defender, this section will allow custom items for URLs to be defined.
- Click on the Add Item A dialog screen will appear; enter the domain or URL of the website that should be whitelisted. If the site has not been checked already, reference the URL Check Work Instruction to ensure the site is not malicious. When the site is confirmed to be legitimate, click Next.
- On the next screen, select Allow as the option. Enter a Title which is recommended to have the URL followed by Allowance, along with a description which specifies a requesting user and their reasoning if applicable. Click Next.
- A final screen will appear; click Save. If this whitelisting was done in response to a user request, don’t forget to let the user know it has been unblocked. The site should be accessible within 30 minutes from the whitelisting activity.
