Device Company Bookmarks Modification

This guide will allow administrators to add desired bookmarks that will be available to registered corporate devices through Microsoft Edge or Chrome.

Device Company Bookmarks Modification

1. Navigate to Configuration Profiles – Intune, locate and select the Security Essentials Browser Management Configuration profile.
   
2. Once selected locate the Configuration Settings section and select Edit to begin the bookmark addition process.
   
3. We will be needing to add the proper bookmark to either of the desired browser, begin by selecting the dropdown beside either the Google or Microsoft Edge blade. Under the Google blade we will be looking for the configuration setting Managed Bookmarks (Device), for Microsoft Edge we will be looking for Configure Favorites (Device).
   
4. Before we proceed with adding a bookmark be sure to not make any alterations to the toplevel_name section or any existing bookmarks. Also Make sure to add a comma (,) to the entry prior to the addition; failure to do so will prevent the deployment of any of the listed bookmarks for the configuration profile.
5. Depending on the selected browser the structure of the addition will be different:
   
   • Any additions made to Google will need to possess the following format:
     

     {     "name": "Name Associated with the Bookmarked Site",     "url": “Web Address Associated with the Bookmark"   }

   • Any additions made to Microsoft Edge will need to possess the following format:
     

     {     "url": "Web Address associated with the Bookmark",     "name": "Name Associated with the Bookmarked Site"   }

6. Once the necessary bookmark addition has been made, select Review + Save to proceed to the summary page where you will verify that the proper formatting has been applied to the entry.
   
7. Locate the necessary configuration setting and verify that the formatting structure has been deployed properly, if you detect a formatting error select the Configuration Settings blade to go back to the previous section to make the necessary adjustments. If everything checks out, select Save to finalize the bookmark addition process.
