Email Connector Creation

This guide will provide background information on creating an email connector that will specify that inbound or outbound mail fall within a security enforcement such as TLS encryption, etc.

Creating an Email Connector

  1. Navigate to the Connectors – Exchange Admin Center portal, locate and select the + Add Connector action.
  2. A panel will open that will ask for specification of either inbound or outbound mail flow for the connector rule to apply to. Select Next once the mail flow has been determined.
  3. You will supply basic identification information such as the Name and Description for the connector, additionally you will be able to specify if you want the connector to be active once the configuration is completed. Select Next to proceed.
  4. Microsoft will ask for you to supply either the domains of organizations you are expecting emails from or the IP addresses they will be utilizing. Select Next when complete.
  5. You can provide restrictions on email delivery if it is not sent through a TLS tunnel or if the IP address of the sender is not included in the previous step. Select Next when complete.
  6. The review page will allow you to see all configured settings for the connector, if you detect a discrepancy at this stage make note of the section and select Back to go to the previous sections to make the necessary alterations before finalization. If everything checks out, select Create Connector to publish the connector.
  7. Upon creation you will receive a notification Connector created, select Done to finalize the connector creation process.
