Enroll a Phone Number for MFA

Set up SMS-based MFA for your Microsoft work account using the MySignIns portal in a few simple steps.

This guide will accomplish the following:

  • Registering a Phone Number from My Sign-Ins

Registering a Phone Number from My Sign-Ins

  1. Go to the MySignIns – Microsoft page and select Add sign-in method. When prompted, select Phone to set up SMS verification for sign-ins.
  2. You'll see a prompt asking you to enter the phone number you want to receive SMS codes to. Once input select Next to continue.
  3. You’ll receive a 6-digit code by text to the phone number you specified in the previous step. Enter it in the textbox displayed on your computer screen, then select Next.
  4. After entering the code, you’ll see a confirmation prompt indicating that the verification was successful. Select Done to finish setting up your phone number.
  5. You should now see Phone listed as a sign-in method. This confirms SMS-based MFA is set up for your work account and can be used for future sign-in prompts.
