Exchange Message Trace Report

This guide will show an administrator how to view any email specified for the intended recipient or sender; this can be utilized for troubleshooting email delivery issues or identifying a point of compromise.

Exchange Message Trace

  1. Navigate to the Message Trace – Exchange Admin Center portal, locate and select the + Start a trace action.
  2. A pop-out will be displayed, here you will be able to customize the search to fit your desired search criteria. You will have access to specify the Senders and or Recipients of the message, the Time Range which they may have been received, whether the message was received or not using Delivery Status and the mail-flow Direction if applicable. Select Search to finalize the set parameters.
  3. The items displayed will show the required information to locate the message, along with its status.
