Mobile Device MFA Reset
- Make sure your phone already has a Microsoft Account connected, like Teams or Outlook. If you've ever sent a Teams message or Outlook email, you are good to go.
- On your phone or tablet, open the Authenticator app.
- If your phone asks for a pin or a face scan, do that as usual to get in.
- Find the MFA details that need resetting; this is just your work email address as the account name.
- Tap on the Gear icon.
- Choose Remove Account.
- Tap All Apps on this device.
- The entry disappears, signaling you're ready to set up a fresh MFA.
- Open either Teams or Outlook on your device.
- It'll ask for your password. Pop it in and tap Sign in.
- It’ll then suggest setting up MFA again. Tap Next.
- You'll be guided to a page telling you about the Microsoft Authenticator app. You’ve already got this on your phone! Tap Next.
- Select Next to set up your Microsoft Account with the authenticator app.
- They'll give you a code to punch in. Missed it? No worries, tap I can't see the number and they’ll show it again. After typing in the code, hit Yes.
- Your computer will give you a virtual high-five with a success message. Tap Next.
- Finally, it will ask for a phone number to send you a one-time text. Pick a number you have access to every day, such as your personal cellphone or work cellphone. Tap Next.
- Input that 6-digit code and tap Next.
- You'll get another virtual pat on the back with a success message. Click Next.
- The last screen certifies that you've set up two security checks. Tap Done to finish up.
