Send an Email with Encryption

What is Secure Send?

Secure send allows mail to be sent through an encrypted portal when [SECURE] is appended to the subject.

Recipients who receive these messages will not be able to remove the encryption being placed on the message and all follow up replies will also have encryption applied to them.

Leveraging Secure Send

  1. Access the Outlook desktop app or Outlook web app.
  2. From either interface, locate and select the New Email option.
  3. When selected a new window will be opened to allow the creation of a new email. Specify all fields to fit your needs, the only requirement is to specify [SECURE] within the subject of the email to initiate an encrypted portal with the intended recipient.
  4. When the recipient receives the email, they will be informed that the message has been sent with encryption. The recipient will not be able to remove the encryption applied to the original email or any follow up replies.
  5. If the intended recipient is not leveraging Microsoft for email, they will need to supply additional information before viewing the message. This will be achieved through re-authenticating their account on the platform or providing a one-time code.
