Sensitivity Label Publication Modification

This guide will provide background information on modifying a publish sensitivity label.

Procedure Scope: Administrators

Required Group Membership: Admin.Security

Modifying a Published Sensitivity Label

  1. Navigate to the Label Policies - Purview portal, locate and select the published label you wish to alter. A pop up will be displayed, select Edit Policy.
  2. Upon opening the policy, all the information of the policy will be displayed. 4 points of interest will be available to Edit. You can modify the sections as needed.
    1. Labels to Publish: Specifies the created label that will be applied to the policy.
    2. Users and Groups: Specifies which users or non-security groups will have access to this label or be required to use this label.
    3. Settings: Specifies the enforcement scope for this published label, deciding the necessity of deployment. When configured additional portals will be displayed asking for possible configuration of defaults or additional restrictions that will apply to different items.
    4. Name: Adjusts the non-functional elements of the policy, only editing the Description is available.
  3. Once the necessary change has been made, the last step is to finalize revisions by selecting Submit.
  4. A final prompt will notify you that the label has been updated, select Done to finalize the modification process.
