Verifying macOS Specifications
- Locate the Apple icon and within the dropdown locate and select the About This Mac option.
- Selecting About This Mac will redirect you to the System Overview section of the Settings utility. Here we will want to verify that the macOS device has at least Version 12 (macOS Monterey), if the operating system is any lower than macOS 12 you cannot leverage the functionality of Microsoft Defender. If the device is not at the version specified above, locate, and select Software Update… to see if you can uplift the current version.
- Within the Software Update section, locate and select Upgrade Now to initiate a version uplift, if during the process you receive an error, this means that your system does not meet the compatibility requirements specified by Apple. You will need to talk to your administrators to see next steps.
- Alternatively, you can utilize the App store to initiate an operating system uplift by searching for macOS [Monterey, Ventura, or Sonoma] in the search bar provided in the store or by looking up the specified Operating Version above and following the redirect provided by Apple from their Website.
